Introduction
I. Application of Laser Cleaning
In product testing conducted by printed circuit board manufacturers, wafer foundries, and packaging and testing factories, micro-probes are used to measure the electrical conductivity of products. During inspection and testing, contaminants tend to adhere to the surface of micro-probes. These contaminants impair the conductive properties of micro-probes, causing significant deviations between test results and actual conditions, and further affecting the accuracy of product testing.
Introducing laser cleaning technology into probe cleaning, the laser energy directly removes contaminants attached to the surface of micro-probes to achieve effective cleaning, and realizes the repair and regeneration of micro-probes.
II. Laser Cleaning Technology
Laser cleaning technology is adopted to remove contaminants on the surface of micro-probes. By applying laser energy, the attachments on micro-probes are eliminated to complete cleaning. After cleaning, the electrical conductivity of micro-probes can meet standard requirements, enabling them to be regenerated and reused.
Laser cleaning technology utilizes the collision pressure generated when materials are irradiated by laser, namely the light pressure produced directly by photon impact, expressed as P=I/c(where P stands for light pressure, I for light intensity, and c for the speed of light). Combined with the photothermal effect that generates explosive stress on materials, the contaminants attached to the surface of micro-probes are stripped away or directly vaporized.

Laser probe cleaning helps boost efficiency and cut costs. Normally, probes such as Pogo Pins will reach the end of their service life after being used hundreds of thousands of times with regular cleaning. Without proper cleaning, prolonged service will not only lower the product testing yield, but also cause peeling of the underlying gold plating on probes. This shortens the service life to well below hundreds of thousands of cycles and leads to increased operating costs.
